Cosmetic Injections

Atlanta Complete Care now offers Xeomin, a neuromodulator, and Belotero, a hyaluronic acid, to improve the signs of aging.  Facial soft tissue fillers and injectables are a nonsurgical way to soften the appearance of wrinkles.

Neuromodulators such at Botox and Xeomin have been used for years to treat multiple medical conditions, but is most popular today for the cosmetic benefits. Neuromodulators smooth wrinkles by preventing the movement of targeted muscles.

Hyaluronic acid, our skin’s natural moisturizer, is a common ingredient of anti-aging creams and serums. Hyaluronic acid (or HA) is injected under the skin to restore volume and sculpt facial features.

What should I expect during my consultation?

Consultations on average take 45 minutes. During this time, you will have an in-depth conversation with the medical provider to discuss treatment options and the goals of treatment. Your skin will be cleansed to remove makeup and oil from the injection site. The procedure takes 20-30 minutes. A prescribed topical anesthetic or ice pack may be applied to temporarily numb the skin prior to the procedure.

What should I expect after my procedure?

There is minimal down time after the injections and results are noticed immediately. An ice pack will be applied to minimize bruising and swelling after the procedure. You will continue to massage the injected region intermittently after the procedure to help integrate the fillers into the skin. The duration of fillers varies by individual products. Belotero provides temporary results which last on average 4-6 months. Asymmetry may occur after this procedure, and additional treatments may be needed to address this.

What are the risks of this procedure?

Just like any injection, you may experience mild irritation, swelling, itching, redness, bruising, or tenderness at the injection site. These side effects typically resolve on their own. The most common adverse events seen in clinical studies with Belotero were swelling, bruising, redness, hardening of the skin, pain, altered color, or itching. Other side effects that have occurred in clinical studies of Belotero include headache, swelling of the side of the nose, moderate cold sore, lip numbness, and lip dryness. Side effects were often mild to moderate and often resolved within 7 days. One of the risks with using this product is unintentional injection into a blood vessel. The chances of this happening are very small, but if it does happen, complications can be serious, and may be permanent.
